Paying attention to details is very important, but I often oversaw those important details subconsciously. I was writing an observation script for Green Bank Telescope recently for a radio frequency observation next month. The script was working well, but the user-defined catalog file failed to read by the system.
I repeatedly check the script, the syntax of the catalog file, also re-uploading the catalog file, etc. Eventually, I wrote an email to the observatory asking for assistance. The scientist for my project there spends some time on that too. The solution was, the input directory in the script was wrong. It should be /users and not /user.
It reminds me of how crucial some of the important details are. I will pay more attention next time.
